IRCC invited 5,500 candidates in the new Express Entry draw

On January 18, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held an unexpected Express Entry draw, making it the second in two consecutive weeks.

Express Entry draw #238 issued 5,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to all-program candidates under Express Entry. In round #238, the cut-off score was 490 points, 17 points fewer than the previous draw!

The tie-breaking rule for this round was November 24, 2022, at 21:14:59 UTC. As of January 18, 2023, there are 240,013 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 3,242 fewer than the previous update.

In 2023, Canada issued 11,000 ITAs through Express Entry, and this is the quickest Express Entry start ever since the system was launched.

Alberta invited 129 candidates under the AAIP in December 2022

On January 17, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) published a new update regarding the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP).

As of January 17, 2023, there were around 1,152 Alberta Opportunity Stream applications and 276 Expressions of Interest in the Alberta Express Entry pool.

In addition, on December 8, 2022, Alberta held a new round in the Alberta Express Entry Stream and issued 129 Notifications of Interest (NOI).

The lowest score in this round was 305 points, 168 points fewer than in the previous draw.

In 2022, the province invited 2,449 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination in the Alberta Express Entry.

OINP invited the first skilled trades candidates of 2023

On January 13, 2023, Ontario invited 1,252 candidates under the Skilled Trades Stream of the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP). The CRS score range of the invited candidates was between 336-506 points.

Candidates, who created their profiles in the Express Entry system between January 13, 2022, to January 13, 2023, were considered by OINP in this draw for 42 NOCs. Candidates who received a notification of interest do not need to contact the program and can apply to the stream.

This year, the province already invited 1,656 candidates under the OINP.

British Columbia issued 150 invitations in the new BCPNP draws

On January 10, 2023, British Columbia issued new invitations in the Skilled Worker – International Graduate categories of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP).

In the Tech-targeted draw, BC issued 123 invitations with a minimum score of 90 points.

In the Childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202), the province invited up to 5 candidates who scored 60 points.

In the Healthcare-targeted draw, the province issued 17 invitations. Additionally, fewer than 5 invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104).

The province invited up to 150 candidates whose score was between 60-90 points. Including this draw, in 2023, British Columbia issued 361 invitations.
