IRCC added new questions for the Express Entry profile

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has added three additional questions to the language and education section of the Express Entry profile.

The first question asks if the applicant completed at least 50 percent of the study courses through in-person learning.

The second one asks the applicant if he or she studied in Canada for at least eight months to earn a degree, diploma, or certificate.

The last question asks if this education has been completed full-time or part-time.

Canada introduced new instructions for PGWP-holders and TR2PR applicants

On August 2, 2022, the Government of Canada published new guidelines for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits (PGWP) and those applying to the temporary resident to permanent resident (TR2PR) pathways.

Since the suspension of Express Entry invitations to apply for the Federal High-Skilled streams has had an impact on PGWP holders, the Government introduced the temporary public policy to allow eligible PGWP applicants to apply for an open work permit within a 6-month intake period.

Those who have already applied for TR2PR pathways may also obtain an open work permit.

Ottawa will implement a new TEER system to Express Entry

On July 27, 2022, the Government of Canada announced that it will switch to the 2021 version of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) on November 16, 2022.

The Government will replace the current NOC 2016 skill type and skill level structure with a 6-category system representing the training, education, experience and responsibilities (TEER) required to work in an occupation.

4-digit occupation codes will also be replaced with 5-digit codes.

Most jobs will stay in the same TEER category, while some jobs may change to a different TEER category.

According to the update, skill level B jobs may become TEER 2 or TEER 3 jobs. With regard to Express Entry, this change means that occupations eligible under Express Entry will be included in TEERs 0 to 3.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is now preparing the updates to the system to reflect the changes.
