New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
7th, Oct 2022
On October 6, 2022, the Government of Canada introduced new policy changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP).
For students who start their distance learning program between September 1, 2022, and August 31, 2023, time spent studying online outside of Canada until August 31, 2023, will be counted toward the overall length of the PGWP as long as it does not exceed 50% of the program.
In addition, the Government also added new guidelines for officers to use while assessing PGWP applications of students who studied their programs between March 2020 and August 31, 2022.
