From 2015-2016 to 2020-2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has increased the spending budget to $3.16 billion.
Considering that in 2015-2016, the spending was only $1.54 billion, this is a 105% increase.
During this period, IRCC has increased the number of employees by 36% to 8,413 to solve the immigration backlogs and decrease the application processing times.
The spending budget does not include locally engaged staff and funding that IRCC permanently transferred to Global Affairs Canada (GAC) for operations abroad.
