New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
16th, Sep 2022
According to Statistics Canada’s new report published on September 12, 2022, international students, especially those from India, increased the share of international students in college postgraduate credential programs tenfold from 1,800 to 17,700 between 2017-2019.
The report explains that immigration to Canada and obtaining permanent residency were likely the main reasons driving the boom in the number of foreign students enrolling in these programs.
Eighty percent of International students studying in Canada gained permanent residency within five years of graduation.
