Ontario issued 692 invitations through the Masters Graduate stream

On January 25, 2023, Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) issued 692 invitations to apply (ITAs) to potential candidates in the Expression of Interest system pool for the Masters Graduate stream.

Candidates who received an invitation had a minimum score of 44 points, 2 points fewer than in the previous draw.

The profiles of selected candidates were created between November 22, 2022, and January 25, 2023. In total, this year, the province invited 2,970 candidates in five draws under the OINP streams.

British Columbia invited up to ten entrepreneurs

On January 24, 2023, British Columbia held its first draws for business candidates in the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) of this year.

In the Base Category of the Entrepreneur Stream, BC PNP invited up to five candidates.

The lowest score of this round was 115 points, 1 point fewer than the previous draw. In addition, the province invited fewer than 5 candidates in the Entrepreneur Immigration - Regional Pilot category with a minimum score of 129.

The maximum points in the Entrepreneur Stream grid are 200. 120 points candidates can get for self-declared factors such as Experience & Ownership, Net Worth, Investment, etc.

Another 80 points are given for the business concept. This year, British Columbia has already issued 838 invitations.

BC invited up to 192 candidates in the new BCPNP draw

On January 17, 2023, the Government of British Columbia issued new invitations under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) and invited qualified Skills Immigration candidates.

In the general draw, the province invited 154 candidates. The minimum score for candidates invited in this draw was 82-105 points.

The province issued 18 ITAs to candidates under the childcare-targeted draw for early childhood educators (NOC 42202).

In the Healthcare-targeted draw, BC invited 15 candidates. Additionally, fewer than 5 invitations have been issued for other priority occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104). In total, the province invited up to 192 candidates for this draw. This year, British Columbia has already issued 553 invitations.

IRCC invited 5,500 candidates in the new Express Entry draw

On January 18, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held an unexpected Express Entry draw, making it the second in two consecutive weeks.

Express Entry draw #238 issued 5,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to all-program candidates under Express Entry. In round #238, the cut-off score was 490 points, 17 points fewer than the previous draw!

The tie-breaking rule for this round was November 24, 2022, at 21:14:59 UTC. As of January 18, 2023, there are 240,013 profiles registered in the Express Entry pool, 3,242 fewer than the previous update.

In 2023, Canada issued 11,000 ITAs through Express Entry, and this is the quickest Express Entry start ever since the system was launched.
