Ottawa clarified the public policy regarding the working hours of international students

On July 8, 2021, the Government of Canada updated public policy and made clarifications to the instructions to prevent students from being penalized if they worked more than 20 hours per week during an academic session in an essential service between March 18, 2020, and August 31, 2020. Students who have worked in a non-essential service can be penalized on future immigration applications such as a study permit extension or the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program. In addition, students who are eligible only for on-campus work can work remotely for an employer located within the boundaries of the educational institution. #International_students, #working_hours

Canada will not accept unvaccinated tourists

The Government of Canada will not allow unvaccinated tourists to enter the country to ensure the safety of Canadians. According to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, tourists who are unvaccinated will have to wait ‘quite a while’. During a press conference in British Columbia, the Prime Minister said that he doesn’t want to endanger the progress made in the fight against the pandemic by opening the borders too quickly. He says ‘all the sacrifices so many people have made over the past many, many months, are not for nothing.’ #Travel_restrictions, #Tourism, #Tourists, #TRV, #visitor_visa   https://www.bing.com/news/search?q=Canada+Will+Not+Accept+Unvaccinated+Tourists&qpvt=canada+will+not+accept+unvaccinated+tourists&FORM=EWRE

South Africans possess the best acceptance rates in PR applications under the Start-Up Visa program

In gaining Canadian permanent residency (PR) South Africans enjoy the level of success in gaining permanent residency in Canada under the Start-Up Visa program. An incredible 90 percent of South African applicants in Canada’s Start-Up Visa program were accepted. While the average acceptance rate is 38 percent, according to Statistics Canada. This success makes South Africans lead the list of countries whose applicants are accepted under this program. In May 2021, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau highlighted the developing relations with African countries and announced that Canada ‘will continue to work together to find solutions to the global challenges of today and prepare for the ones of tomorrow.’ #Start_up_visa, #South_Africa, #SUV, #IRCC, #business_immigration, #entrepreneurs

Canada reports on Q1 of immigration numbers

According to the latest RBC report, the increase in the number of immigrants increased the Canadian population by 82,000 in the first quarter.

This is the result of the federal government's vigorous efforts to encourage temporary residents to apply for immigration.

The growth of study permit and post-graduate work permit (PGWP) holders is also a main driving force for the overall population growth. Increasing immigration has always been one of the federal government's strategies to deal with population challenges.

Canada’s population is ageing and the birth rate is low.

Without immigrants, Canada’s growth rate would not meet the standards required for population growth.

Approximately 9 million baby boomers will reach retirement age within this decade.

Without newcomers, Canada’s workforce will not be able to remain competitive in the world market, and the pressure to take care of the older generation will fall on the smaller groups of workers.
