Immigrants are encouraged to get vaccinated in Quebec

Immigrants 12 years and over, living in Québec, regardless of their immigration status, can be vaccinated free of charge as part of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. On June 3, 2021, The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration announced that immigrants can book an appointment on the Clic Santé platform or get their vaccine doses in walk-in clinics. The health insurance card is not mandatory for vaccination, but clients must present an identification card at the vaccination site. #Quebec, #Covid_19   https://www.quebec.ca/en/health/advice-and-prevention/vaccination/covid-19-vaccine/

Some students were denied boarding on their way to Canada

The pandemic situation has been getting better in Canada recently. Postsecondary institutions announce their plans to convert some courses to 'offline' in the fall semester. Many international students have started to pack their luggage to come or return to Canada as they already have study permits. But some international students were denied boarding when they were returning to Canada because it was more than four weeks away from the start date of their classes. The Canadian Embassy in China said in a statement: "International students shouldn't try to enter Canada more than four weeks before their school starts, because they might be denied entry or boarding for travelling too early." #International_students, #study_in_Canada

Canada – US border may be re-opened in June

The Mayor of Windsor Drew Dilkens stated that they are expecting to ease travel restrictions on the southern border by the end of June, although the Government did not provide an official date. In May, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told that at least 75 percent of Canadians would have to be vaccinated, and coronavirus cases would have to remain low to lift restrictions. Prime Minister’s Members of Parliament are also urging him to re-open the Canada-US border if enough Canadians to be vaccinated by June 21. #Travel_restrictions, #USA, #COVID_19

Canada succeeded to decrease the amount of COVID infected international flights

According to Health Canada, the number of international flights carrying COVID-19 infected passengers dropped 61% in May compared to April. In May, only 113 flights landing at Canadian airports carried passengers infected with COVID-19 while in April, this number was 288, 66 of which were direct flights from India’s capital of Delhi. This proves the efficiency of Transport Canada’s decision to ban passenger flights from India and Pakistan on April 22. In addition, restrictions on travellers arriving from these two countries via connecting flights also helped to drop the number of COVID-19 infected international flights. #COVID_19, #travel_restrictions, #India, #Pakistan
