On August 16, 2021, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau revealed the number of refugees Canada has helped to flee Afghanistan.
According to Prime Minister, the Government of Canada has evacuated 807 Afghans under the program announced last month to resettle the families of Afghan interpreters and other support staff who worked with the Canadian Armed Forces and the diplomatic mission in Afghanistan.
More than 500 Afghan people, as well as 34 Canadian diplomats and Canadian Armed Forces personnel, have already arrived in Canada.

The federal court fined IRCC for unresponsive bureaucracy
Canada’s Federal court fined Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as the latter kept the application of a Saudi Arabian family for over 57 months.
The family submitted their application in January 2016 and made 34 requests to IRCC for an update on the file between May 2017 and April 2021.
In February 2020, the family brought their case to a federal court to urge IRCC to expedite the processing of their application. The court agreed that the 57-months wait in the queue was unreasonable and ordered IRCC to render a decision in 30 days and to pay the family $1,500 in costs.

The amount of Indian international students increased in 2021
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued more study permits to international students from India in the first four months of this year than during the same period of 2019.
From January to April 2021, IRCC issued almost 100,000 study permits for Indian international students.
In the first four months of 2019, Canada issued about 96,000 study permits, which is 4.2% more comparing to 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic raged in Canada, and the number of study permits issued to Indian international students was only 34,000, the increase is more than a third - 35.4%.

Unemployment falls as Canada fights COVID-19
According to the Statistics Canada Labour Market Survey, two months of growth in June and July 2021, totalled 325,000 jobs, which is a 1.3 percent increase comparing the pre-coronavirus February 2020 level.
For young men, the numbers are already at pre-pandemic levels, and the number of vacancies for women is also reaching pre-pandemic figures.
In general, part-time employment for young people grew by 62,000. In July 2021, Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia added 95,800 jobs of which two-third were in Ontario only.
Unemployment in all these four provinces fell drastically to 8 – 8.5%.
