On January 24, 2022, the Government of Canada announced that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will use advanced data analytics to sort and process temporary resident visa (TRV) applications submitted from outside Canada.
This Ai system scans documents for key words and flags. Likely what will happen is if you meet all the requirements and you have no issues in your application then a brief review from the immigration officer and a decision will be made.
However, if you have certain key words like certain countries, or past refusals they likely will be sent for full review.
With the conversations I have had with other immigration consultants it seems that the submission must also be in pdf and jpg format. If not in file format that meets the IA skill it will be sent out to be reviewed by the officer.
The use of the advanced system is part of IRCC’s commitment to improving client service and application processing.
IRCC officers will continue to make the final decision on applications, approve, or refuse them.

On January 21, 2022, the Government of Canada published a new update regarding the instructions for study permit applications for students from visa-exempt countries applying from overseas to study in Canada.
Referring to the General processing measures: COVID-19 program delivery, the instructions clarify that applicants with a valid visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA)
can change their designated learning institutions (DLIs) by submitting their new letter of acceptance before applying for a study permit or while the application is still in progress.

On January 18, 2022, Statistics Canada released a study, which examines the engagement of international students in the labour market through the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program (PGWPP) after finishing their post-secondary education.
The report states that the number of international students participating in the PGWPP after their studies have increased significantly.
Under the PGWPP international graduates can work full-time, part-time, or be self-employed. The PGWPP has started in 2003 as a pilot program in some selected provinces, and then expanded nationwide in 2005.

This has been an issue I have been very vocal on and have always believed this is the case not just in certain parts of Africa, I have seen this with African individuals landing in Canada and going through the CBSA.
In a area where racism is totally unacceptable this should be scrutinized by Immigration Canada officials. All potential CBSA and Immigration Officers should have to go through additional vetting to help minimize this type of issue.
According to the “IRCC Anti-Racism Employee Focus Groups” Final Report, applicants’ country of citizenship may impact the approval of an application.
The approval rate of temporary resident visas, study permits, and work permits is higher in certain countries than in others.
The approval rate for the citizens of African countries has been lower than other regions for several years.
the report does not deny that IRCC employees often treat applications from Africans with more scrutiny than applications from other countries.
