IRCC conducted new invitation rounds under the IEC

Over the last two weeks, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held new draws under the International Experience Canada (IEC).

From February 21 to March 6, Canada invited 8,676 young foreigners to apply for an IEC open work permit. As of March 6, 28,404 candidates have registered in the pool and are awaiting the invitation.

In these rounds, there were 645 ITAs for Australia, 20 ITAs for Austria, 70 ITAs for Belgium, 68 ITAs for Chile, 23 ITAs for Costa Rica, 7 ITAs for Croatia, 64 ITAs for the Czech Republic, 25 ITAs for Denmark, 10 ITAs for Estonia, 15 ITAs for Finland, 727 ITAs for France, 391 ITAs for Germany, 23 ITAs for Greece, 15 ITAs for Hong Kong, 487 ITAs for Ireland, 232 ITAs for Italy, 2,438 ITAs for Japan, 733 ITAs for Korea, 8 ITAs for Latvia, 22 ITAs for Lithuania, 1 ITA for Luxembourg, 38 ITAs for the Netherlands, 874 ITAs for New Zealand, 15 ITAs for Norway, 62 ITAs for Poland, 38 ITAs for Portugal, 1 ITA for San Marino, 31 ITAs for Slovakia, 2 ITAs for Slovenia, 146 ITAs for Spain, 33 ITAs for Sweden, 16 ITAs for Switzerland, 134 ITAs for Taiwan, and 1,262 ITAs for the United Kingdom.

In total, Canada invited 46,652 IEC candidates in 2026.

Canada invited senior managers with Canadian work experience under the new Express Entry category

On March 5, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the first-ever Express Entry draw for senior managers with Canadian work experience.

IRCC issued 250 Invitations to Apply (ITA) in the fourth draw of the week. In round #402, the cut-off score was 429 points.

The tie-breaking rule for this round was August 19, 2025, at 15:10:18 UTC. As of March 1, 2026, 232,534 profiles were registered in the Express Entry pool.

So far in 2026, the Government of Canada has issued 44,862 invitations under 14 Express Entry draws.

IRCC invited 5,500 candidates in 2026’s second Francophone Express Entry draw

On March 4, 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held the second Express Entry draw for French language proficiency candidates of the year.

In round #401, IRCC issued 5,500 Invitations to Apply (ITA) to francophone candidates.

The cut-off score of this draw was 397 points – three points fewer than the last draw.

The tie-breaking rule for this round was October 10, 2025, at 18:18:20 UTC. As of March 1, 2026, 232,534 profiles were registered in the Express Entry pool.

This year, Canada issued 44,612 ITAs through 13 Express Entry draws, and 14,000 of them went to francophones.

Alberta conducted a new Rural Renewal Stream draw under the AAIP

On March 4, 2026, Alberta released the results of the recent Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) immigration draws. On February 26, the province invited 30 Rural Renewal Stream candidates with a minimum score of 55.

The AAIP has issued 822 nominations so far in 2026, with 5,581 spaces remaining from its total allocation of 6,403. Last year, the program met its full allocation by issuing 6,603 nominations, with over 85% going to temporary foreign workers already in Alberta.

So far, Alberta has invited 2,559 candidates through the AAIP streams in 2026.
