Visa processing for Chinese applicants delayed by 280 days

The IRCC has promised to speed up the approval of visas.

However, according to the timetable issued by the IRCC, it takes 280 days to obtain a Canadian visitor visa in China, which is one month slower than a week ago.

A while ago, the IRCC announced that there will be significant delays in various immigration application services under the pandemic. At present, the department is giving priority to processing applications for those who are not hindered by travel restrictions.

According to journalists from the Chinese Canadian outlet Van People, many applicants will have to wait a long time to be reviewed.

Immigration modernization was discussed in a roundtable by the Public Policy Forum

IRCC accepted more applications under the International Graduate Stream of the new TR to PR pathway

In May, within the first day of launching the temporary residence to permanent residence (TR to PR) program, Canada reached its intake cap of 40,000 international student graduates. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) got significantly more applications than intended for International Graduates Stream. Due to a technical error, IRCC received 7,307 additional applications. New Brunswick launched a new pilot program for international graduates of private career colleges

On August 18, 2021, New Brunswick announced a new immigration stream for international graduates of private career colleges to help support the province’s increasing labour needs. Starting April 1, 2022, international students who graduate from one of four New Brunswick private career colleges, and who have studied in one of nineteen selected occupations, will be able to apply to the Provincial Nominee Program, and work and live in the province while they wait for permanent residency.
