On September 24, 2021, Thunder Bay, ON, issued new community recommendations in the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP).
The city approved applications of 27 candidates –1 candidate in the NOC 0 skills level, 15 candidates in the NOC B skills level, 3 candidates in the NOC C skills level and 3 candidates in the NOC D skills level.
Candidates who received a community recommendation can submit their applications for permanent residence in Canada to Immigration Canada (IRCC). In total, the community already recommended 96 candidates in 2021 and still has 54 spots available.

The Government of Canada began sending invitations to potential candidates who want to sponsor their parents and grandparents and submitted an Interest to Sponsor forms in the fall of 2020.
Applicants are encouraged to check their email account, as invitations to apply (ITAs) will be sent via email. Applicants who receive ITAs will have to submit their application within 60 days by using Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) new Permanent Residence Portal.
Those who cannot apply online must request the paper version of the application package by October 21, 2021.
This year, IRCC will accept a record number of up to 30,000 applications under the Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program.

On September 22, 2021, the Government of Canada updated the table of contents for temporary residence program delivery instructions (PDIs) that now, reflect some name changes of the PDIs as well as include recently developed new PDIs.
In addition, the Government updated Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) exemption code table that has been created to capture the different eligibilities or criteria for specific situations.
New LMIA exemption codes that were developed within the last year have also been added to the table.

Starting the week of September 20, 2021, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will hold a lottery for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) 2021.
IRCC will draw 30,000 candidates from the lottery over a two-week period giving more Canadians and permanent residents than ever before the opportunity to bring their loved ones to Canada.
Applicants who receive an invitation to apply will have to submit their completed applications to IRCC within 2 months. Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced the details of the program in July 2021.
