New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
5th, Jun 2023
On June 2, 2023, Newfoundland and Labrador made it easier for internationally-trained nurses to work in the province by amending the Registered Nurses Regulations.
The changes include establishing a Designated Countries Pathway for nurses from seven countries, including the US, UK, India, the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, and reducing costs and education assessment time for International Nursing Applicants.
The Provincial Government plans to welcome approximately 200-300 nurses from India by the end of this year. Currently, there are already 200 internationally-educated nurses working in the province.
