Economic uncertainty surges: Two-thirds of Canadians struggle with basic expenses amid growing precarity

As Canada enters fall 2025, a new study reveals deepening financial anxiety across the nation. Nearly two-thirds of Canadians (62%) report concerns about affording basics, with one-third experiencing this worry multiple times weekly.

The research shows this "precarity mindset" has intensified since earlier this year, particularly affecting younger adults (81% of those 18-29), families with children (74%), and lower-income households (73%).

For millions, economic uncertainty has become a daily reality, forcing the delay of major life decisions and creating widespread emotional exhaustion as Parliament reconvenes amid economic slowdowns.
