Conservatives are urging immediate steps to address suspected international student permit fraud and strengthen oversight.

The proposed committee motion calls on Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to investigate every alleged case of fraud or non-compliance and to deliver monthly progress and resourcing updates beginning May 15.

It also seeks a detailed accounting of how many individuals flagged by the Auditor General later received additional visas or remain in Canada. In addition, the motion asks that identities linked to fraudulent-entry asylum claims be shared with the Immigration and Refugee Board, and that no further visas be issued to those who entered through fraud.
