Canadian Provincial Immigration Sees Turbulent Shifts in 2025
2nd, Sep 2025
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is developing an innovative AI-powered screening system to assess all travellers entering the country, with implementation expected by 2027.
The Traveller Compliance Indicator (TCI), which has already been tested at six land ports, analyzes five years of traveller data to assign compliance scores and identify potentially higher-risk individuals for secondary inspection.
While officials claim the technology will streamline border processing for 96 million annual travellers, experts caution that the system may perpetuate existing biases and unduly influence officer judgment despite human oversight.
