Canada's meatpacking industry has a labour shortage crisis, and the industry is calling on the Federal Government to let them bring in more temporary foreign workers.
The Canadian Meat Council stated that in Canada, approximately four thousand empty butcher stations at meat production facilities possess on average a 10 percent job vacancy rate.
According to the Canadian Meat Council spokeswoman Marie-France Mackinnon, in Alberta, the vacancy rate is around 20 percent.
However, in Quebec, the situation is more severe than in other provinces, since the job vacancy rate has approached 40 percent
. According to her, the province limits its ‘ability to have made-in-Canada protein. It means more meat is being processed in the U.S. and other countries, and more meat imports for Canadians.’

According to Blacklock's Reporter, immigrants and minorities in Canada have more pride in the country's treatment of ethnic groups than do White people.
Most Black, Asian, and Arab Canadians were proud of the nation's achievements, according to the article. “Immigrant respondents (63%) were more likely than Canadian-born respondents (43%) to be proud of Canada’s treatment of all groups in society,” said a Statistics Canada report titled General Social Survey: Social Identity.
“For immigrants, pride in how Canada treats all groups in society is connected to the time since their arrival in Canada.” By a wide margin, immigrants who arrived in the last five years praised Canada's "fair treatment" of all groups (78%).
According to StatsCan, a large majority of all immigrants, both long-term residents and citizens (68%), were proud of the government's "treatment of all groups in society."
Only 44% of White Canadians expressed pride in Canada's treatment of all categories of people.

More than 250 Mexicans pursuing the dream of working in Canada fell victim to labour fraud after losing their money for an opportunity that never came.
A network of scammers attracts their victims with attractive labour proposals in Latin countries, mainly Mexico, as Canada is one of the most popular destinations for those seeking new job opportunities.
Latin consulates in Canada and Immigration offices of all involved areas have started campaigns to sound the alert on these unfortunate incidents.
Applicants are encouraged to verify a job offer through official government authorities like IRCC or ESDC.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada’s population growth decreased twice due to the increasing numbers of Covid-19-related deaths.
According to Statistics Canada’s Population Estimates report released on September 29, 2021, immigration drove almost three-quarters of Canada’s population growth during the past year despite all pandemic-related border restrictions and travel bans.
The statistical analysis shows that during the last year the Canadian population grew by only about 208,900, twice less compared to the previous year.
Immigration also fell by 56.8 percent (around 156,500) but was enough to keep Canada’s population growth.
