On September 3, 2021, the Government of Canada updated processing instructions for Afghan nationals.
Besides family class applications, protected persons in Canada and their dependents overseas as well as dependents of resettled Afghan refugees.
Applications of the Temporary Public Policy for Afghan nationals in Canada and outside Canada (effective from August 25, 2021, to February 28th, 2022) will also benefit from priority processing given the quickly evolving situation.
Permanent residence (PR) applications of protected persons and Afghan citizens where the family members are currently residing outside of Canada will be prioritized.
