New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
22nd, Feb 2023
On February 17, 2023, Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), announced that the number of refugees that sponsorship agreement holders (SAHs) have increased to 13,500 in 2023.
Since introducing a cap in 2012, this figure has skyrocketed tenfold, with 12,150 additional spaces for SAHs. With the additional cap spaces, new SAHs can get their operations up and running while existing organizations can further expand.
SAHs cover all aspects of a sponsorship project, from identifying refugees in need to submitting applications on their behalf and providing them with essential support when they arrive.
