A new report from Statistics Canada provides fresh insights into how Canadians use English and French in daily life. Data from the 2022 Survey on the Official Language Minority Population shows that most minority language adults who claim bilingual skills have high oral proficiency in their second official language.

Most individuals who report speaking both English and French at home use both languages every day.

The report also highlights that adults raised in bilingual homes often feel more comfortable speaking English.
