On December 2, 2021, New Brunswick announced that the provincial government is going to increase the minimum wage by $2 per hour in 2022.
This 17 percent increase is the most significant jump since 1980. $1 per hour increase in April 2022 and another one in October 2022 will boost the minimum wage in the province to $13.75 per hour, making it the highest in Atlantic Canada.
The increase of the minimum wage will benefit approximately 15,500 minimum wage earners and 30,000 New Brunswick citizens who make more than the minimum wage but less than $13.75 per hour.
