Job availability in Canada hits a two-year low

Canada saw its lowest level of job vacancies in over two years in August, according to Statistics Canada. There were 682,400 vacancies, a drop from 697,900 in July.

The most considerable declines were in manufacturing, information and cultural industries, agriculture, forestry, fishing, and hunting.

Increases in finance and insurance and management of companies and enterprises partially offset these.

Compared to last year, there were fewer job vacancies in 17 out of 20 sectors, with the retail industry experiencing the most significant drop.
