On May 3, 2022, the Government of Canada published a new program delivery update regarding the refusal to process caregivers’ work permit applications, where the LMIA application was
received on or after June 18, 2019. According to the new update, applicants who were exempted from exemption from refusal to process criteria are now eligible to obtain a work permit under the
Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilots under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) for caregiver occupations.
