New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways

Canada may have an issue determining how many temporary residents have jobs due to a discrepancy of around one million people between official figures from two federal bodies.
An economist at the University of Waterloo, Mikal Skuterud, warns that Statistics Canada may also be undercounting the number of temporary residents employed in Canada, including international students and temporary foreign workers.
The economist highlighted that Statistics Canada’s Labour Force Survey indicated that Canada had 503,079 temporary residents with jobs in December last year, while information from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada suggests there were 1,585,664 temporary residents with jobs during the same period.
