Canada added 60,000 jobs in September 2025, marking a 0.3% increase that partially offset recent employment losses, according to Statistics Canada's Labour Force Survey.
The employment rate rose to 60.6%, while the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 7.1%. Job gains were concentrated among core-aged workers, with women aged 25-54 adding 76,000 positions and men in the same demographic gaining 33,000 jobs.
Full-time employment surged by 106,000, though part-time work declined by 46,000. Manufacturing, healthcare, and agriculture sectors led growth, while employment fell among workers aged 55 and older. Average hourly wages increased 3.3% year-over-year to $36.78.
