New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
8th, Dec 2022
On December 5, 2022, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced that Canada would invest up to $90 million in projects designed to help foreign-educated immigrants obtain credential recognition.
The minister launched a call for proposals for these initiatives, each of which could receive between $500,000 and $10 million.
Canada is facing an extreme shortage of well-trained medical personnel such as doctors, nurses, paramedics and therapists. According to a study by Statistics Canada two years ago,
many newcomers who possess the necessary skills for these positions are unemployed or working below their skill level in non-healthcare jobs that only require a high school education.
