The Canadian government has committed to spending $1.6 billion over six years and $315 million annually after that on processing and settling new immigrants under its ambitious 2023-2025 Immigration Levels Plan.
The federal government has allocated $50 million toward tackling the processing backlog, as stated in the Fall Economic Statement.
Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland announced this after Immigration Minister Sean Fraser tabled the latest Immigration Levels Plan earlier last week.
Within the next six years, annual levels are projected to reach half a million, with the majority being Economic Class.
