On May 12, 2022, the Government of Canada updated the open work permit labour market impact assessment (LMIA) exemption categories issued under the International Mobility Program

(IMP). The new update correctly reflects instructions for individuals applying under the open work permit pilot program for permanent residence in the spouse or common-law partner in Canada

Class and occupation-restricted open work permit applicants under the Home Child Care Provider Pilot or Home Support Worker Pilot – Category. Applications under these categories cannot be

submitted at the port of entry.
