New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
9th, Nov 2021
Four Mexican and Guatemalan agricultural workers returned to their countries of origin on September 25, saying they were exhausted from the living and working conditions at the farm in les Hautes-Laurentides.
Prior to their departure, other workers packed their bags and fled.
According to the director-general of the Quebec Workers and Agricultural Workers Support Network (RATTMAQ), to date, 11 workers have asked to leave and seven have fled.
The workers who denounced their conditions asked not to be identified out of fear of repercussions.
