New measures for foreign nationals with expired or expiring post-graduation work permits and applicants to the temporary resident to permanent resident pathways
16th, Sep 2021
On August 26, 2021, the Federal Court of Canada ordered Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to pay $2,500 to the applicant, Mr. Charles Obafemi who applied for a work permit and visitor visa in Nigeria on September 13, 2019, to join his wife in Canada.
Due to an error made by the visa officer, an unnecessary delay occurred and prevented the applicant to join his wife in Canada for far too long.
The court ordered IRCC to process Mr. Obafemi’s application on a high priority basis.
In addition, on August 27, 2021, the Court also ordered IRCC to pay a compensation of $62,040 to David Alfonzo Blanco Carrero.
Mr Carrero a Quebec Skilled Worker whose permanent residence (PR) has been processed by IRCC for almost a decade because of officer mistakes that now prevents the applicant get a PR as the application was impacted by the 2019 Quebec CSQ cancellation law.
