Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has updated its operational instructions regarding Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) review procedures under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP).

IRCC has extended the grace period for work permit extension applications requiring concurrent processing from 60 days to 90 days. Under this policy, eligible extension applications submitted without an LMIA will not receive a final decision until 90 days have elapsed from the receipt date.

Additionally, IRCC implemented a new client process allowing applicants to explicitly identify when their files require concurrent processing.
