Employment and Social Development Canada report shows that university-educated immigrants are overrepresented in low- and medium-skill sectors and underrepresented in high-skilled jobs.
If adjustments are not made in education and employer and cultural attitudes towards newcomers, there is a risk of repeating these patterns.
Currently, about half of the newcomers are economic migrants, and the goal is to increase this to 60% by 2025.
