On February 1, 2023, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced that the Government of Canada designated Pearson Canada Inc. as a language-testing organization.

By late 2023, it is expected that IRCC will begin accepting scores from the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Essential English test administered by Pearson Canada Inc.

as a way to fulfill language requirement criteria.

This new policy aims to provide an alternative means of demonstrating language proficiency for those who may not have had access to other established language tests.
